UK reviews for Making a Killing

“With a strong professional cast and plenty of twists in the storyline, this feature debut by Ryan Lee Driscoll never lets the spectator take a breather and proves, if need be, that you don’t necessarily have to imitate Hollywood to make efficient horror-thrillers.”

KINO EYE

“Smartly done with great acting... Full of twist and turns that keep you guessing.”

BBC RADIO 5

“The intricate plot weaving of this British thriller manages to be an absorbing and surprising experience.”

ULTIMATE DVD

“Murder, cynicism and videotape: Ryan Lee Driscoll gives us definite proof that English humour is at it’s best served black.  Making A Killing benefits greatly from a solid feel to the direction of a film which is not without comparison to ‘Shallow Grave’.”

The Plot

A manic killer is on the loose and when Jake's lover and the wife of his friend, Chad, is one of the murder victims, he is driven by guilt to help him out. But with no insurance pay out as the corpse is still missing, Jake hatches a plan with his ex-boss Vic and ex-girlfriend Sarah to recreate the murder in Vic's video studio and to catch the crime on tape.

But Sarah, the victim of the fake murder, has her sights on a bigger insurance pay out and wants a real body to make it work. Vic has a better idea - if Jake is 'accidentally' killed during the night of the murder, the crime scene will be a lot more convincing and the two of them will be a lot richer.

But tempers start to flare and when Vic rapes Sarah in a drunken rage,  Jake's plan is on the brink of collapse. Especially when it seems the real killer is much closer than any of them could have possibly imagined.
